Cape Verde to see infrastructure improvements

Authorities in Cape Verde are to invest in major infrastructure improvements across the country, which according to reports state that Portugal is loaning €140 million to the Cape Verde government at a favourable rate of interest.

This will be put towards a number of projects in locations such as Santiago Island, which will see upgrades including the creation of new ports. The announcement comes at the same time as the completion of improvements to the road network around the capital city Praia.

A new €27 million ring road has been opened in order to ease congestion and improve accessibility to other cities such as Cidade Velha. This should significantly enhance the desirability of Cape Verde as both a holiday destination and market for overseas property buyers.

The country's popularity among British investors was recently highlighted by the Observer, which said it was now an "irresistible" market for many people in the UK.
